The great leap forward - our ability to communicate abstract concepts. I really enjoy quirky things, and language has some great quirks. In all my travels, I strive to pick up a little of the local languages. I believe that language not only gives us a way to express thought, but to a certain extent, shapes how we think.

Words

There's dose and rose and lose, and goose and choose, cork and work and card and ward. A dreadful language? Man alive! I'd mastered it when I was five! In fact, I have a list of neat words :) Send me your favourites

Careful: books cross here

I love libraries, but book crossing is something anonymous that feels personal. Some permanent book crossing zones here in Toronto:

  • The Yellow Griffin (Bloor & Runnymede)
  • Starbucks at Yonge and Bloor
  • The Green Room (Bloor & Brunswick)
  • Ben Wicks Pub (Parliament & Carlton)
